This is the poignant and sad Civil War Letter from James A. Potter to his wife Margaret Eliza Newport dated February 16, 1865. James and Margaret were residents of the Black Community (now called the Maxwell Settlement) that was located on North Geneva Road across the street from where the Steger Haus is now located.
